Urostomy bags for everyday comfort
As your output is liquid, urostomies need a drainable bag with a tap or a bung. All of our urostomy bags are one-piece, where the bag is attached tho the baseplate and come with a tap that can be easily squeezed to control the flow when emptying.
For baseplates, we offer flat or soft convex, in different pre-cut or cut to fit sizes to suit your body profile. Our baseplates also have different features so have a look through the bags above to explore what’s on offer.
For some people, extra support around the stoma can help improve the fit of their bags. Products such as stoma seals can help create a closer fit between the baseplate and the skin. You may also wish to explore other stoma accessories that support skin care and help the bag system sit securely.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a closed, drainable and urostomy bag?
A closed bag has no outlet and is removed when it needs changing. It is often used by people with a colostomy and more formed output.
A drainable bag has an outlet that can be opened, emptied and securely folded or fastened again, making it useful for looser or more frequent output.
A urostomy bag collects urine and has a tap or soft bung for controlled drainage. It may also connect to a compatible night drainage or leg bag.
Your stoma care nurse can help you choose the right type for your stoma and output.
Should I choose a one-piece or two-piece bag?
With a one-piece system, the bag and baseplate are joined and changed together. This can make the routine feel straightforward and keep the system low profile.
With a two-piece system, the baseplate can stay in place while the bag is removed or changed. This may suit people who want to change the bag without removing the baseplate as often. Our two-piece ranges include a pop-up ring and an audible or reassuring click to help with connection.
The best choice depends on your skin, dexterity, routine and personal preference.
How often should I change or empty my bag?
There is no single routine for everyone. Empty a drainable or urostomy bag before it becomes heavy or overfull. Closed bags are replaced as needed, while the timing of a full bag change depends on your product, output, skin and routine.
Do not wait for discomfort or a leak. Follow your product instructions and the routine agreed with your stoma care nurse. If you are changing much more often than usual, ask for advice so the fit and cause can be checked.
Do urostomy bags have filters?
Many urostomy bags include filters that allow gas to pass through the bag. This helps reduce ballooning and can make the bag feel more comfortable to wear during the day.
Are urostomy bags discreet under clothing?
Urostomy bags are designed to sit flat against the body so they can be worn comfortably under everyday clothing. Many people are able to continue their normal activities while wearing a urostomy bag.
How can I prevent leaks with a urostomy bag?
Leaks can happen from time to time, but there are steps that can help reduce the risk.
Making sure the bag fits well around your stoma is important. The opening in the baseplate should match the size and shape of your stoma so that the skin around it is protected.
Before applying a new bag, check that the skin is clean and dry. This helps the adhesive stick properly and form a good seal.
Some people also use support products such as stoma seals or barrier products to improve the fit and help protect the skin.
If you notice leaks happening often, it may help to try a different type of bag or speak with a stoma nurse for advice on finding a better fit for your routine.
Do I need a flat or convex baseplate?
A flat baseplate is often suitable when the stoma protrudes and the skin around it is relatively even. Convexity applies gentle support around the stoma and may help when a stoma is flush, retracted or sits within dips, folds or a softer abdomen. Soft and firm convex options provide different levels of support.
Convexity should be chosen with guidance from your stoma care nurse, who can assess your stoma and body shape and help you find a comfortable fit.
How do I choose the right opening size on the baseplate?
The opening should fit closely around your stoma to help protect the surrounding skin, without touching or rubbing the stoma. Cut-to-fit baseplates can be cut to your measurement, while pre-cut options are available in set sizes.
Your stoma can change size and shape, especially after surgery, so measure it regularly and follow the instructions and use the measuring guide supplied with your bag. Ask your stoma care nurse for help if you are unsure.
Why is my bag not sticking properly?
Make sure the skin around your stoma is clean and completely dry before applying the baseplate. Avoid oily creams and wipes that can leave residue, as these may affect adhesion. Hold the baseplate gently in place after application, following the product instructions.
If the edges lift during activity or bathing, a flange extender may help. If lifting or leaks start close to the stoma, or the problem keeps happening, contact your stoma care nurse to review the fit rather than simply adding more products.
What is ballooning?
Ballooning happens when gas collects and makes the bag inflate. Many filtered bags are designed to let air escape while helping to reduce odour, but the effect can vary with output, clothing and routine.
Check that the filter is not covered unless instructed and speak to your stoma care nurse if this issue regularly causes leaks or discomfort.
When might a high-output bag be helpful?
A high-output bag may suit people with high-volume or more liquid output, including some ileostomates or anyone experiencing a temporary period of increased output. Its higher capacity and controlled drainage features can offer extra reassurance and reduce how often it needs emptying. Some options connect to a compatible night drainage bag.
A sudden or persistent rise in output can affect hydration. Contact your stoma care nurse or healthcare team for advice, particularly if you also feel unwell, dizzy or unusually thirsty.
Can a urostomy bag connect to a night drainage or leg bag?
Many urostomy bags include a drainage connection for use with a compatible night drainage or leg bag. This can provide extra capacity overnight or support your routine during the day. Compatibility and connection steps vary by product, so follow the instructions supplied with your bag.
Keep the tubing free from kinks and position the drainage bag below your stoma. Your stoma care nurse can show you how to connect, disconnect and clean the system safely.
