The Eakin story began back in 1973 in Comber, Northern Ireland thanks to one man’s vision – pharmacist (and legend) Tom Eakin – who was inspired by listening to the problems of ostomates and nurses.
The company grew over the years through exporting to global markets and took up residence in our second home in Cardiff in 2007 when we added Pelican Healthcare to the family. A few years later Respond home delivery service was created and we launched direct businesses in Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, France, Germany and most recently, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Fast forward to the present day and our Ostomy businesses have come together under one Eakin Healthcare brand. We’re simplifying things because we know that having a stoma can be challenging, but finding the right stoma care solution shouldn’t be.
And whilst our business has grown, our ethos has always remained the same – to go above and beyond in helping our ostomates be the best version of themselves, their trusty sidekick on the grand adventure to confidence.

So it’s goodbye to Eakin & Pelican, and hello to Eakin Healthcare – housing the same great ranges and products you know and love. Think greater innovation, sustainability and an improved ability to better serve our customers.

We have a wide range of world-class ostomy products within the Eakin Healthcare portfolio – we were the first company to manufacture an ostomy seal called the eakin Cohesive^® seal which has helped people with a stoma worldwide prevent leaks and gain confidence as well as the first company to offer a ‘soft convex’ ostomy bag. Most recently, we have launched ModaVi® to the UK market – an ostomy bag with cutting edge design, comfort and style. We will continue to work alongside our talented R&D team to deliver the very best ostomy and wound solutions for our customers throughout the world.
