With 40 years of nursing experience, my career has been firmly rooted in colorectal and stoma care. I began nursing at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, in 1986, working in Colorectal Surgery before becoming Lead Stoma Care Nurse in 1994. I stayed in that role until 2008, developing a real passion for stoma care, education and improving the experience of patients and their families.

I then spent 12 years as a Community Stoma Care Nurse, gaining invaluable insight into the realities of living with a stoma beyond the hospital environment.

Since 2020, I’ve been a Clinical Advisor with Eakin Healthcare, where I bring my clinical experience to product development, education, research and training. What I enjoy most is bringing the real-life experiences of both ostomates and healthcare professionals into conversations and helping turn those insights into meaningful improvements in care.

I’m passionate about sharing knowledge, connecting people and making a genuine difference to those living with a stoma or wound.

Away from work, I’m kept happily busy by my two beautiful grandsons and Max, my much-loved dog — who both make sure life is never dull!
