Support belts

Ostomates are often advised to consider a support garment, to prevent a parastomal hernia from occurring. Especially when abdominal muscles are weakened from surgery or when you’re perhaps doing abdominal exercises – even gardening or housework can be working those muscles. Have a chat with your stoma care nurses to see what would be most suitable for you.

No, we actually have 8 sizes of belts available across 2 different widths to suit your abdomen and also what feels most comfortable. Chat to your stoma care nurse to find out what would suit you best.

It’s important you speak to your stoma care nurse about how long to wear a belt for – they might suggest for a few hours to all day, it all depends on you, your body and your stoma.

We wouldn’t advise sleeping with the belt on.

eakin^® support belts are designed for use around your abdomen, over the top of your stoma bag – don’t worry it won’t impact your stomas function.

We would recommend you speak to your stoma care nurse or doctor about this. Generally speaking, to achieve accurate support you should be able to fit two fingers between the belt and abdomen.

No, just the neutral colour – this colour generally hides well under clothes so it’s not visible.

No, if your belt does not fit have a look at others within the range or readjust the Velcro™  fastening. If you cut your support belt it might not give adequate support to you.
